End of Years and New Years
I am sure your feed has been flooded with tips on how to set the best New Year’s Resolutions. While it is a useful exercise to reflect on what you have achieved and would like to focus on, many resolutions fall flat before the end of the first week or two into the new year.
Instead of setting goals, why not try and focus on the values you want to cultivate in 2019.
What are the beliefs most important to you?
Getting in touch with your values helps build motivation towards your goals and forms a basis to your parenting style.
Let’s look at a few together.
Rank in order of importance health, family, a successful career, creativity, social connection, financial security, learning and living a pleasurable life. Your personal ranking system will drive what is important.
Take for example health. If it is number one then eating healthy and exercising regularly will be prioritised.
Likewise, if you value connection then you’ll initiate catching up with friends and reach out to make new networks.
We often think it is a lack of time and motivation that get in the way of reaching our goals but its more about asking yourself if it matters.
