Just RELAX...

Just RELAX...

Did you know that roughly 80 percent of our thoughts are negative?

To make matters worse a lot of them repeat OVER and OVER.

So lets explore what we can do to keep ourselves in a more positive head space.

Mums commonly question if they are doing a good enough job or compare themselves to others who they deem to be doing a better job. It is so much easier to find fault in your daily output then cheer lead all those micro achievements.

The RELAX acronym helps improve our ability to deal with negative thoughts

Recognise when you are consumed with worries. When you do this you stop the thoughts in their tracks.

Eliminate unhelpful thoughts as they trigger negative emotions. We’ve talked previously about practises of deep breathing, get moving, do something you enjoy. When you do this you are literally pouring out the negative thoughts. Your brain is like a pharmacy and you can change its chemistry by doing this.

Letting go of a stressful mindset that constantly looks for reassurance, allows space to see that all negative thoughts ultimately pass.

Attitude is key to moving towards problem-solving. We talked last week about acceptance for what is. Cultivating flexibility and openness to your thoughts, frees up room to find solutions to what is driving the thought.

X-tra sleep.  Often lacking when in the throes of the early  parenting years but catching up on sleep can have a miraculous impact on your mindset without doing anything else.
