Mother's Guilt

Feeling guilty is familiar territory for most mums. It usually comes on during pregnancy and comes and goes throughout motherhood. Each day we make choices and in turn we question if we did enough. The good news is that to feel guilty you have to care enough to do so. However it’s tiring being weighed down with guilt, so let’s look at what we can do to keep it in check.

You too can be a Calm Muma

How do you manage stress? Do you exercise, go out for coffee or some other form of self care? There is growing interest in mindfulness as a means of taking a mental break and bringing us back into the present moment.  So if your first response is that I don’t have time to practise mindfulness then you are someone that could benefit from giving it a go.

Ghosts in the Nursery

Making peace with the relationship you hold with your own mother is essential to creating space for building a satisfying relationship with your child. I often say to women who describe feeling angry and let down by their mothers, to reflect on what type of mothering they had growing up.  It is normal to experiences memories of your own childhood when you become a mum.
